December is a time of year for reflection so naturally, we’ve been mulling over what’s happened this year at Poker.

Client wise – where to start!? We launched the new download store www.digitaldoghouse.co.uk, staged the Hard Dance Awards at the o2 Academy, launched Dutch house label Adapt Recordings into the UK media, and promoted numerous events and their artists that have included Zane Lowe, Sub Focus, and Luciano. We drove a product placement campaign with M-Audio for the DJMag Top 100, set up many promotional opportunities at exclusive events for coca leaf liqueur Agwa de Bolivia, kick started a campaign for up ‘n’ coming artist Kramnik, and found time to launch a new website and our social networking platforms.

Our new office (now with room to swing several cats!) is probably the biggest physical change – the space was needed to accommodate the new social media department and the staff needed to power it! Speaking of staff, our support team of freelancers is bigger than ever. We’ve been lucky to get some very talented and hard working people on board.

There really is too much to mention but we’d like to say a big thanks to everyone we’ve worked with this year.

2010 is an exciting time for us as we move to work with brands both in and outside of music. We’ll provide a greater range of services with particular emphasis on digital communication, social media campaigns, and web design. If there’s anything you need help with in 2010, just get in touch.

Merry Christmas and happy New Year from all at Poker x

He was asked to play the event, which also billed the likes of James Zabiela and MYNC Project, in the Panda Hire Silent Arena.

What a fantastic concept. Pick up a pair of headphones on your way into the silent arena, and chose the channel via a switch on your headphones of the DJ’s set you want to listen to.

Kramnik’s showcase of his newest mix, The K Song drew in the crowds, all stood by nodding heads and tapping their feet in approval.

Follow Kramnik on Facebook to find exclusive content of his set.

The level of musical hardware in attendance was noticeably first class. Brands including Pioneer, Allen & Heath, Bose, and Poker client M-Audio were all there showcasing their latest products.

David Atkinson from M-audio sees BPM as a great tool for M-Audio:

If we want hands on, one-to-one time with DJs and producers there’s no better a place than the BPM at the NEC. It means we can demo products, talk to our customers and find out what they need.”

With an event entirely dedicated to the DJ, it was only right that a few DJs were thrown into the mix to demonstrate their skills. At one side of the arena you had James Zabiela giving the CDJ 2000s a serious work out, and at the other – the Silent Arena – hot Poker client Kramnik showcasing his new album mix, The K Song.

From a DJs point of view, Kramnik commented:

“BPM is one of the best opportunities to take a good temperature on the industry, and get a feel for what’s coming next. A definite must for anyone with BPMs in their blood…”

So positive feedback all round. Great work BPM. We look forward to attending next year.
