Poker PR is thrilled to have bagged the online music promotion for Phonetic Recording’s debut Ibiza compilation – Phonetic Ibiza 2010 mixed by Leigh Devlin and label boss, hit producer, award winning A&R man and DJ Rob Roar, respectively.
Despite Phonetic having more number 1 hit records in Ibiza than any other label, this is their first compilation. Due for digital release on 26th July and physical release on 8th August the album boasts over 17 world exclusives and a sharp track selection from scene leaders Axwell, Deadmau5, Michael Gray, Paul Harris (Dirty Vegas), Dave Seaman, and Martijn ten Velden.
Phonetic Ibiza gets its own launch party on Sunday 8th August at Sands, Playa den Bossa, Ibiza – just opposite Space – where Rob Roar and a collection of superstar guests from the Phonetic label will appear.
The two disc Night and Day Compilation is another feather in Phonetic’s already impressive cap. That said, with someone as instrumental to the house scene as Rob Roar at the helm, it was never going to be anything else…

Poker PR is pleased to announce that our M.D., David Mitchell, will be a panellist on the ‘Our Community Is Our Brand’ panel at the rapidly approaching International Music Summit (IMS) in Ibiza. The panel will discuss digital communities, how and why they have changed their business and what the future holds.
David will be drawing from his many years of experience to voice his opinions on social networks, digital media, and all the other avenues that are currently available to create a community around a brand.
Also sitting on the panel are:
Callum Negus Fancey, 20 year old promoter of Lets Go Crazy, the events are aimed at 14 to 16 year olds and continue to go from strength to strength.
Denzyl Feigelson, founder of Artists Without A Label, bridging the gap between independent artists/labels and digital stores such as iTunes.
Jonas Tempel, CEO of Beatport, the largest and most popular digital dance music store.
Konrad Von Loehneysen, MD at Ministry of Sound Recordings Germany, the German division of the ever popular brand.
Susie Lucas, Head of Mobile, UK, at Universal Music, delivering music and entertainment to mobile devices. TBC.
This is the first year David will be speaking at the IMS and we know that with his enthusiasm and experience it will not be the last.

The SXSW (South by South West) festival in Austin, Texas starts tomorrow, running for nine days and encompassing many forms of media making it the festival that leads the way in interaction over many platforms.
SXSW really show others what is possible when it comes to using social media, utilising Facebook and Twitter amongst many other platforms, to bring up-to-date information to delegates and those attending. You can also use your Facebook and Twitter accounts to connect with other services such as the (unofficial) guide to the event on sched.org.
The festival, of course, has an iPhone app and it looks great. With schedule and maps as the more basic functions, it also includes some special features for the badge holders including a card feature that allows you to send your contact details to other delegates and a messaging feature that allows the badge holders to communicate away from the festival’s own social network my.SXSW.
It would be great to see some of the UK festivals embrace these types of technology; fans love to interact and connect in every way possible and we at Poker PR can offer all the services to make this happen.

The International Music Summit 2010 (IMS), which takes over the five-star Ibiza Gran Hotel on the 26-28 May, yesterday announced a new line up of speakers that include Sasha, Heidi (Radio 1), Cassius and Jesse Rose.
They’ll be joining an already star studied line-up including Mark Ronson who’ll be giving a keynote interview, Annie Mac, Erick Morillo, DJ Skream, Pedro Winter/ Busy P, Arthur Baker, Robin Millar, and internationally acclaimed producer David Guetta.
Sasha will host a Pioneer technical demo, explaining his decision to return to using their equipment after years of flying the flag for Ableton. It is said that he made the return to the equipment while his infamous ‘Maven’ controller was being upgraded. Poker PR saw Sasha using the new CDJ2000s at Matter and can confirm he is making the most of this new technology.
Google, T-Mobile, Sprite, Coca-Cola Group, Ministry of Sound, BBC Radio 1, KCRW, MP7, Beatport, and ResidentAdvisor are among some of the companies who will have representatives in attendance, some of whom will be sitting on the event panels. Panels this year include, Big Dog DJs: F*** You We’re Famous, USA Today: Boom Boom Now! and Meet the Future. There will also be a repeat of last year’s Ibiza United panel, featuring the big players in Ibiza clubbing, Amnesia, Eden, Es Paradis, Pacha, Privilege and Space.
Poker PR will make one part of the numerous music industry bodies in attendance for our second year running, and we have to say that the line-up of artists and speakers has us a little excited already.
For further info on the event please visit the IMS website

The main V stage headliners over the two days are Kasabian and Kings of Leon with support from likes of Stereophonics, Faithless, The Kooks, Paul Weller, Paolo Nutini, Pet Shop Boys, Cheryl Cole, Madness, Editors, White Lies, Mika, Groove Armada, The Courteeners, The Charlatans, The Temper Trap, Amy Macdonald, Goldfrapp, Shed Seven, Newton Faulkner, La Roux, Skunk Anansie, Passion Pit, Ellie Goulding, Paloma Faith, Plan B, Sugababes, and Pixie Lott also confirmed with more acts still to be announced.
Tickets go on sale at 9am tomorrow morning so be sure to get in there quick. A list of official ticket outlets is available here. Festival officials are warning that there are a large amount of scam websites out there and also recommending that festival goers do not use secondary ticket sellers to avoid disappointment.
Poker PR has attended V Festival for many years and if this year’s event can come anywhere close to last year’s sun kissed event then we are in for a real treat.

With a month to go ‘til WMC2010 we pick our top parties from this year’s event. Undoubtedly the most important in the dance music calendar in the states, the Miami’s Winter Music Conference will be celebrating its 25th year in 2010. Originally started as a meeting of just 80 dance music insiders, it’s become an essential stop for artists, partygoers, promoters, and labels serving around 60,000 visitors during one week. Here are the highlights:
Tuesday 23rd March
Air London & 8 Bit Records presents…
Nick Curly (Cecille/8 Bit), Simon Baker (2020 Vision/Cocoon), Glimpse (Planet E/Cadenza), and Oxia (8 Bit) are among the acts playing at the event, taking over both rooms at the Electric Pickle.
Wednesday 24th March
Credit To The Edit with Greg Wilson.
Back to the Electric Pickle for, Poker favourite, Greg Wilson. This is Greg’s first set at the conference and he will be playing an exclusive 4 hour set. Guests to be announced.
Thursday 25th March
If Carlsberg did parties… Steve Lawler, M.A.N.D.Y., Tiefschwarz, and Radioslave are among the list of DJ’s playing at the event with arguably one of the best line ups of the conference.
Friday 26th March
Steve Angello & Sebastian Ingrosso & Friends.
After a massive year in 2009 Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso of the famed Swedish House Mafia head to Mansion and are joined by their friends An21 and Kim Fai. Featuring a special guest appearance by Florence and the Machine.
Saturday 27th March
With a 7 hour set from Roger Sanchez, and Poker friends Prok and Fitch playing this event at the luxurious SET Nightclub, this is one not to be missed.
Sunday 28th March
Danny Tenaglia Closing Pool Party.
Call us traditionalist but there is no better way to end the WMC than at Danny’s famous closing party. With a melting pot of clubbers, hipsters from all over the world, DJmag at the Shelborne closes their pool with the best of the best.
This is Poker PR’s pick of the week’s parties, but you should not forget the actual conference itself or the Ultra Music Festival featuring a multitude of top DJ’s and acts over the Friday and the Saturday.

If you are not as lucky as me and are not going to Matter tonight to see Faithless, then don’t worry as they have been confirmed to headline this year’s Global Gathering. This year Global will be celebrating its 10th year so they will be pulling out all the stops.
Faithless and Global Gathering are giving away a free track to promote the band’s 6th studio album released later this year. To register for your download click here.
Dizzee Rascal will also be strutting his Brit winning stuff, along with 150 other DJs and acts still to be announced. Making a welcome return will be the Godskitchen’s Boombox, which as well as housing the booth for some of the world’s top DJ’s; it will also act as a screen for an awe inspiring visual display. Check out last year’s Boombox stage here.
The two day dance festival takes place in Stratford-upon-Avon on 30th – 31st July and early bird weekend tickets are on sale now priced at £126.50 with a deposit scheme available, which allows festival-goers to spread out the ticket payments. Go to the Global Gathering site for more info.

The weird and wacky, but exceptionally wonderful Hot Chip return to the UK this February with a new album and tour to boot.
The five piece band released their fourth studio album titled ‘One Life Stand’ on Monday 1st Feb and their UK tour will kick off on 12th Feb at o2 Academy, Glasgow.
I am a huge fan of this band. Collectively, they look like a loveable bunch of misfits, but their live events are raw, uplifting, and quite electrifying. The band has just announced on Twitter that they’ll be playing at this year’s Bestival. Hurrah!
To date, all three Hot Chip albums have produced both eclectic and chart-topping tracks, all firmly stamped with the trademark Hot Chip sound. Guardian.co.uk said they were “blown away” by the fourth album whilst dance site Datatransmission said it was an “absolute cracker.”
I cannot wait to hear the new album performed live, so I’ll be heading to the Leeds leg of their tour on 16th Feb. I’m Ready For The Floor – are you?!
Check www.hotchip.co.uk for the complete tour schedule.

Now in its 25th year, the Miami Winter Music Conference (WMC) is the biggest electronic music gathering on the planet.
Running from 23-27 March on Miami Beach, Florida, the event will take over the city as numerous venues and hotels provide home for the conference.
From workshops, seminars, panels, exhibits, demo listening, DJ spin offs and VJ challenges, the 2010 program reflects the current climate of the industry. Topics include innovation in DJ & production technology, new media, and club culture.
Event wise, the conference hosts the biggest parties around. The Shelborne Beach Sessions runs 23-28 Mar with highlights of Josh Wink’s 15 Years Ovum label party, plus appearances from techno legends Sasha, Luciano and Loco Dice over several nights.
The WMC’s official closing party Ultra Music Festival runs over two days and will feature the likes of Tiesto, Carl Cox, Deadmau5 and Faithless.
Last year’s WMC was attended by 1,910 artists and DJs, 3,228 industry delegates from a sum of 62 countries. Over 500 events ran across 5 days with a total of 52 industry panels, seminars and workshops.
