
Facebook, the world’s favourite social networking site has today announced it has passed the 300 million user mark, having increased the number of users by 50 million since only July of this year.
Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder and chief executive, claims his goal is to “connect everyone,” and we for one are thankful to him for that. Despite many up-turned noses claiming Facebook damages one’s social abilities in the real world, there’s no doubting its use as a means of communication. Not only does Facebook allow you to waste vital minutes at work slaying zombies or trading cards with the cyber mafia, it eases communication between friends and families on separate continents, using – in all likelihood – an internet connection which was there anyway. And what’s not to celebrate about that?
In short, congratulations Facebook. Here’s to the next 300 million…
