kramnik_logoWe’re as excited as kids in a sweetshop as we’ve snapped up the fantastic DJ Kramnik to our roster.

This up ‘n’ coming DJ has got the UK music press all in a quiver over his 90 minute feature length, album mixes he creates with more passion and dedication than the DJ scene has witnessed in a long time. Kramnik spends literally hours every day researching new music for his immaculately crafted mixes.

From progressive to techno and electro, and everything else in between, his mixes tell an emotive musical story, and so much so that DJ Mag made his first mix ‘The Zen Zong’ a Top Pick in their June issue; iDJ flagged him up as ‘one to watch’, and Total Kiss FM exclusively aired the mix in their ‘Main Room Mix Session’ slot.

Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, he’s created a brand new 90 minute mix called ‘The K Song’ which you can download for free on his website www.kramnik.dj Please sign his guest book and let us know what you think. He’ll be playing an excerpt from this mix, live at the BPM event in Birmingham this Saturday 3rd October.

facebook_logoFacebook, the world’s favourite social networking site has today announced it has passed the 300 million user mark, having increased the number of users by 50 million since only July of this year.

Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder and chief executive, claims his goal is to “connect everyone,” and we for one are thankful to him for that. Despite many up-turned noses claiming Facebook damages one’s social abilities in the real world, there’s no doubting its use as a means of communication. Not only does Facebook allow you to waste vital minutes at work slaying zombies or trading cards with the cyber mafia, it eases communication between friends and families on separate continents, using – in all likelihood – an internet connection which was there anyway. And what’s not to celebrate about that?

In short, congratulations Facebook. Here’s to the next 300 million…

fabric_logoWho’d a thought it?  Whether the team behind London’s coolest disco like it or not, they run one of the only super clubs to have survived the Millennium crash, and have now done so for ten years.  Birthday events happen all over the country, but this one marks something more special.  It’s testament to Fabric owner Keith Reilly that in the face of celebrity guests – he has laughed, in the face of big name headliners who would line his pockets – he has laughed, and in the face of prevailing trends – he has laughed.  Instead, Fabric has remained a beacon of the underground, has introduced countless new faces on the UK electronic scene, and has housed too many unforgettable parties to mention.

The club’s 10th Birthday will be another one of those ‘were you there when…’ moments.  Bringing together the DJs they call residents – all of whom are headliners in their own right – the DJs who’ve become synonymous with the club, and the DJs who have helped put not only Fabric on the map, but entire genres. The 10th Birthday celebrations run from Thursday 15th to Sunday 19th October.

In fact, the club will not close from Saturday morning right through until Monday. In typical Fabric style, they’re set to show the rest how it’s done when they line up the likes of Simian Mobile Disco, DJ Craze, Ricardo Villalobos, Steve Bug, Michael Mayer, Doc Martin and oh so many more…  For full line-ups see here www.fabriclondon.com

will_saulFollowing on from Joris Voorn’s masterful ‘Balance 014′ mix earlier this year, Will Saul takes the baton for the next leg, laying down 65 tracks over 3 discs.  The Austrailian music label boss tip-toes through spangly disco and retro electro cuts to start, battles through minimal and dubstep beats on the middle disc, then pushes on through techno territory to finish.

Poker PR has been lucky enough to listen to this pre-release. The mix takes in not just current hits but unearthed gems and future classics, and it promises to be one which stays on your player longer than most, and once again affirms the Balance series as one of the best out there.

Released October 2009 from www.balance-series.com
